HD Hyundai Infracore Co., the construction equipment division of the Hyundai corporate conglomerate has signed an agreement with Korea East-West Power to develop and commercialize hydrogen gas turbine engines.
The hydrogen engine technology can be used for electrical powerplants or generators. The use of hydrogen as combustion fuel is beneficial to the environment as the only byproduct is water.
Korea East-West Power and HD Hyundai Infracore Co. have set ambitious goals including creating a prototype 1MW-class hydrogen gas turbine engine system, integrating five 200kW, 11-liter emission engine by the end of 2024.
