Kia Roof Trim Can Become Loose and Fly Off

Kia is asking owners of certain 2023 and 2024 Sportage SUVs and 2022 through 2024 Carnival minivans to bring them to their dealer for a recall because parts of the roof may potentially come loose and fly off while driving. They are recalling over 101,000 vehicles to fix this issue.

Kia says the issue stems from an assembly issue. If the roof molding is coming loose, drivers may hear a sound or observe that the trim near the roof is not holding together well.

Vehicles Recalled

• Kia Sportage SUVs manufactured between Jan. 12, 2022, and Nov. 29, 2023

• Kia Carnival minivans manufactured between Jan. 5, 2021, and Nov. 24, 2023

Summary

Retaining clips, sealer, and/or faulty installation could cause roof molding to detach.

Owners may contact Kia at 800-333-4542. The NHTSA campaign number: 24V025. Kia’s recall number is SC292.
