Kia Advises Not to Drive Some 2023 Kia Fortes Due to a Steering Issue

2023 Forte

Kia is issued a warning to owners of some 2023 model year Forte vehicles advising to avoid driving them for the time being. The automaker has identified a manufacturing error in a part supplied by a third party, which could result in a potential loss of control.

Kia has issued a recall for certain Forte models built between April 12 and June 7, 2023. The recall is due to a problem with the right front lower control which has a faulty joint connection point caused by bad welding. Kia determined that this issue could lead to fatigue over time.

The lower control arm of the Forte may break, causing a separation and impacting the vehicle’s steering, increasing the risk of an accident.

Owners of the 2023 Forte are advised not to drive their vehicles until the recall issue is resolved. To check if your car is affected, use the VIN lookup tool provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Kia is addressing a repair issue for its vehicles. They will notify owners by mail and encourage them to contact Kia Roadside Assistance for free towing to a Kia dealer. The dealer will replace the front right lower control arm at no cost to the owner.
