Last month at the New York International Auto Show, Genesis introduced their new performance sub-brand called Magma, designed to compete with Mercedes-Benz AMG and BMW M. Featured were three models: the GV60 Magma concept, the X Gran Berlinetta Concept coupe, and a “G80 Magma Special” sport sedan for exclusive limited release in the Arabia market. At the 2024 Beijing auto show, Genesis’ Magma unveiled a new Magma-tized variant of the Electrified G80.
The G80 EV Magma is a high-performance sedan featuring a unique new color, Acme Blue, available exclusively in the Chinese market and inspired by the blue hue of hot flames. The car has a distinctive appearance with its lowered stance, widened chassis, a specialized grille, and front fascia. It is complemented by enhanced fenders, a redesigned rear fascia, and 21-inch aerodynamic wheels.
Genesis has not disclosed production schedules for the new G80 EV Magma concept, similar to the launch of the gas-powered G80 Magma Special showcased in New York sedan last month. The company also showcased a non-Magma updated Electrified G80 at the Beijing auto show, revealing enhancements such as a longer wheelbase, new 19-inch wheels, and improved noise reduction features, with full details expected at the market launch later this year. Additionally, an updated GV70 was presented, revealing styling updates and a sale launch next month in Korea, with a U.S. debut anticipated later this year as a 2025 model.
