Genesis Recalls 91,000 Vehicles For Fire Risk

Hyundai is recalling nearly 100,000 Genesis vehicles across nine models due to a risk of engine compartment fires. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that water may enter the starter solenoid, potentially causing an electrical short. Owners should be aware of warning signs such as smoke from the engine area, a burning smell, or starting issues.

Here are the recalled models:

  • Genesis G70, 2019
  • Genesis G80, 2017-2019
  • Genesis G90, 2017-2019
  • Hyundai Genesis, 2015-2016

The NHTSA hasn’t reported any injuries or deaths linked to the Hyundai vehicle issue. Vehicle owners are advised to park their cars outdoors until the recall repairs, which include a free remedy relay kit installation by dealers, are done. Notification letters will be sent to vehicle owners by April 13.
