Elantra N – Motorsport-inspired Performance, Enhanced Safety and Comfort

Hyundai Motor Company today celebrated the eighth anniversary of its high-performance N brand with the global launch of the newly refreshed Elantra N (sold as Avante N in South Korea and as i30 Sedan N in Australia). Hyundai released an Elantra N performance film featuring actual vehicles owned by N enthusiasts.

The Elantra N, a popular “hot sedan,” has gained a significant following since its launch in 2021. It has helped the N brand expand into the United States and Australia, and now it is making its way to China. The enhanced Elantra N was unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2023 alongside the Elantra N TCR, a successful model that has achieved multiple wins.

The Elantra N combines motorsport-inspired technology with enhanced safety and comfort for an engaging driving experience. It focuses on three core aspects: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability, and Everyday Sportscar.

The new Elantra N is the result of knowledge gained from successful racing performances, including winning the TCR class at the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race and the WTCR team and driver championship. The expertise from the Elantra N Cup One Make Racing series has led to enhancements in software, hardware, and overall competitiveness.

“N brand has always been inspired by motorsport competition, and now that Elantra N TCR has proved its advanced technology with a successful race career, the new Elantra N becomes evidence of our commitment to bring motorsport-winning DNA into our road cars for N fans to enjoy,” said Till Wartenberg, Vice President and Head of N Brand and Motorsport at Hyundai Motor Company.

Additionally, the Electronic Controlled Suspension (ECS) was optimized for enhanced body control.

The steering system upgrades include improved gear box yoke, low-friction universal joint, optimized power steering software, and increased tire pressure for better handling and precision.

The new Elantra N has improved cooling and aerodynamic efficiency with a duct-style air guard for maximum cooling, improved fuel efficiency, and a wing-type spoiler for better aerodynamics and speed.

The new model features improved braking performance with a front bumper air guide and upgraded Electronic Stability Control software. A thermal protector has also been added to the front brake hose for increased endurance.

The new Elantra N’s software has been reprogrammed to optimize performance with high-octane gasoline, based on feedback from enthusiasts at track days and N birthdays.

The new Elantra N features a specially developed 2.0T GDi engine, delivering 280 PS, 40 kgf·m of torque, and a top speed of 280 km/h. It is paired with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.

“Recognized for its outstanding value in the global high-performance car market, the N brand stands as a symbol of Hyundai’s leading technological capabilities and will contribute to enhancing Hyundai Motor’s brand value,” said Joonwoo Park, Vice President of N Brand Management at Hyundai Motor Company.

Hyundai N releases new film dedicated to N fan’s love for driving featuring the new Elantra N

The Elantra N, introduced in 2021, has gained popularity among N enthusiasts and is renowned for its success in TCR races worldwide.

The Hyundai Elantra N has a strong following among enthusiasts, but its roots can be traced back to the Hyundai Lantra, which Australian rally legend Wayne Bell competed with in the 1990s, achieving multiple class wins in rally events.

Hyundai N is dedicated to delivering enjoyable driving experiences and upholding the legacy of motorsport enthusiasts. They are committed to providing fun-to-drive performance with petrol-powered vehicles as long as regulations permit. In 2023, Hyundai N will introduce the Elantra N and IONIQ 5 N, further demonstrating their dedication to exhilarating performance regardless of the vehicle’s power source.

Hyundai N celebrated its eighth birthday by releasing a performance film showcasing Elantra N vehicles owned by N-thusiasts.
