Car Enthusiast – Kia Stinger Owner Missing, Suspect Captured

74-year-old Gary Levin of Palm Beach Gardens Florida is missing. Levin, an avid car enthusiast was a 2022 Kia Stinger owner and a Lyft driver. Before moving to Florida Levin was a Philadelphia PA resident.

Human remains have been found in Okeechobee County Florida not far from where Levin recently disappeared while driving for Lyft. The remains have not yet been positively identified.

On Thursday, Feb. 2 authorities in North Carolina captured a suspect following a high-speed chase and wreck of Levin’s Kia Stinger in the western part of the state after receiving an alert the suspect may be in the area.

Rutherford County Sheriffs, Forest City Police, Spindale Police, North Carolina Highway Patrol and the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force were involved in a multi-county vehicle pursuit of the suspect. According to troopers a Stop Stick was deployed and a PIT maneuver was used to stop the vehicle. After a brief foot pursuit authorities were able to apprehend the suspect.

Matthew Scott Flores, 35; the suspect was driving Levin’s Kia Stinger and is now being held on a $2 million bond in North Carolina. In a court proceeding Flores asked the judge if he could be released if he posted the $2M bond. The judge then amended the order stipulating a “cash bond.” Flores was also wanted and had a warrant issued in Hardee County, Florida regarding another murder last month.
