Genesis also Issues a Fuel Pump Recall

Genesis has issued a fuel pump recall affecting 20,600 model year 2021-2022 Genesis G80, 2021-2022 Genesis GV80, and 2022 Genesis GV70 vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with low-pressure fuel pumps that may have deformed impellers. A deformed impeller could strike the fuel pump housing and cause fuel pump failure. In 2022, Genesis received a report about a stalled 2022 Genesis GV70, which prompted the automaker to investigate further. Testing of five fuel pumps that experienced issues confirmed that the impellers caused damage. Genesis is aware of nearly 880 fuel pump incidents between July 1, 2021, and August 22, 2023. Genesis drivers should be alert for warning lights, idling issues, and abnormal engine behavior. In the event of a complete fuel pump failure, the engine will stall and refuse to start.

Owners of the aforementioned Genesis vehicles should be on the lookout for recall letters to be sent out on November 10, 2023. Authorized dealerships will perform the necessary pump replacements to ensure the safety and functionality of the vehicles.

Genesis owners with questions can call 855-371-9460. The Genesis fuel pump recall number is 016G.
