
The Drive website tested the new Genesis GV70 SUV. What they found is its handling experience receives little from the C2 (G70) platform it shares. Like many SUVs the GV70 steering was found to be numb and its high center of gravity makes twisty turnys challenging. On the other hand for city cruising its suspension takes bumps with ease, the transmission shifts smoothly and the brakes are more than adequate. Two engine options include a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder good for a claimed 300 horsepower, and a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 good for a claimed 375 hp. Curb weight range is 4,453 to 4,541 pounds. “Like the GV80, G90, and G80, the GV70 definitely leans more heavily toward luxury than sportiness.”
