Malaysian website paultan.org has published an article entitled “A fleet of 150 Hyundai Ioniq 5 EVs to form world’s first bi-directional energy system – to power 2,530 homes!”

The article states, “Utretch (Netherlands will be) the first city in the world to deploy V2G technology on such a large scale, and the newly-developed neighbourhood of Cartesius will become the city’s first bi-directional neighbourhood.”

“Bi-directional charging – or V2G – is a technology that allows electricity from the vehicle to be channeled back into the grid, as opposed to unidirectional chargers that only supply one-way energy flow from the grid to charge the vehicle.”

“Think of cars as power banks on wheels – when you’re not driving them, why not have them power your air-conditioning, kettle, lights and TV?”
